David Hayter
Name: David Hayter
Birth Place: South London
Current Location: Sidcup, London – Canterbury, Kent
More About Me:
Hi I’m Dave, I’m a freelance music journalist from London, and I hate genres. It helps to get that out the way early, it saves time in the long run, and gives me more time to talk about what I love, which is of course music. Popular music more specifically; everything from abstract hissing noises and arpeggiated synths to brutally heavy guitars and gorgeous melodies that go “ooh-ah-oooo-ah-oo” (that sounded better in my head).

While I’ve dedicated the bulk of my life to music and reporting on gigs, I’ve recently rediscovered my passion for modern art. I was an aspiring artist at one point, but a particularly tiresome teacher made me run from pen, paint and pastel with hour after hour of sketching power chord. Seriously, every time I pick up a pencil I see electronic cable; hopefully, one day, I’ll draw again. Aside from that I had failed run at local politics, the less said about that the better (I finished 7th, beat the BNP, that’s got to count for something right?). Oh and I’m the least vegan looking vegan in the world.
Music Loves Of Now: Daniel Lopatin, Grimes, Katy B and Gojira
Other Loves: American Sports, Art Exhibitions, Darren Aranofsky Movies and watching entire TV Series in 24 hour binges
Love Of The Week: Talking to drunken Norwegians at festivals, they never disappoint.
